It’s an exciting time to be a beef cattle produc- er. More knowledgeable consumers, state- of-the-art technology, improved rations and
genetics, all leading to a better product from
today’s producers, and all leading to a perfect
opportunity to spend more time learning and
growing the business of beef.
This year’s beef cattle exhibit at Sunbelt
Expo is no exception. Steve Blackburn, Sunbelt
Expo executive board member and beef cattle
exhibit chair, is thrilled to bring the quality of
speakers and demonstrations together for the
beef industry during this three-day event.
“It really is the premiere livestock training
ground for the Southeast,” he says. “Producers
have a wealth of knowledge and resources at
their fingertips during this event, that they can
immediately take back to the ranch and imple-

The Sunbelt Ag Expo is proud to introduce first-time exhibitor and new partner High- land Precision Ag, a company with unique
services to bridge the gap between the producer and consumer.
President and CEO Steve Maxwell says
he has a “covenant” to their consumers and a
“commitment to the environment that through
technology” the producer is practicing sustainable farming.
The main goal of the partnership is for
Sunbelt to bring HPA a crowd to show, interact
with and ultimately to create a clientele, as well
as upholding the value of education that Sunbelt is known for.
HPA has many angles, each pointing to
bringing technology to every generation of
farmer. There are five core parts to HPA: Highland Hub, Imagery and Analysis, Lab Services,
Regulatory and Marketing.
Highland Hub is completely customizable,
which allows the grower to pick the services
and analytics needed while placing the workload into one virtual space.
From weekly images and analytics of crops,
to virtual scouting reports, log books, FMPs
and record keeping, Highland Hub provides a
time-saving online solution.
Everything HPA does is tied in the Highland
Hub. Even though the marketing is not in this
initial phase, HPA hopes to eventually incorpo-
rate it into the software system.
Their imagery and analysis focuses on
1. Crop counting, a powerful tool that provides an estimate on the number of crops in
2. Rate of Change, which is a virtual scouting tool that monitors plant vigor over time,
analyzing crops and detecting stress.
3. Hotspot Analysis, a pinpointing tool that
detects patterns of stress in crops.
While HPA takes images, they also provide
information about the data to the farmers they
can use to make decisions.
Highland Precision Ag has designed a turn-key lab that provides rapid and reliable analytical support to farmers, agronomists and allied
services of the agricultural industry.
Their services include soil analysis, water
analysis, nematode assay, disease diagnostic
and herbicide/pesticide residue. This particular
lab is operating 24 hours, 7 days a week. Most
samples can be turned around within 48-72
hours. Results will be available quickly and recommendations will be provided with sample
reports through their software.
Highland Precision Ag eliminates the need
to spend hours sifting through paperwork,
As the point of contact for the growers, HPA
will assist in meeting local, state and federal
regulations through their Regulatory Compli-
ance Maintenance Program, a risk-avoidance
strategy which encourages the producer to
contact HPA with questions on regulatory mat-
ters that might help avoid future compliance
Moving the product from the farm to the
consumer can be challenging. It is vital to make
sure the grower can effectively communicate
with those that buy the completed product.
Having a well-structured website and a strong
presence on social media is key.
HPA marketing services include web design, social media planning, product photography, and video production that will help
producers navigate through the constantly
changing world of agricultural marketing.
Sunbelt Ag Expo will be HPA’s first venue
where producers can talk one-on-one to the
representatives with HPA. By January, this
package will be available to every commodity.
Maxwell believes in first taking care of the
farmer because the farmer will ultimately take
care of you. HPA is the first company to connect Green Acres with CSI, providing a high
level of technology to fill that missing link from
producer and consumer. HPA is a crusade to assist the small American grower.
